Dear Member,
As I am sure you are aware, Clontarf FC is perched on top of the Ulster Bank AIL Division 1A with five games remaining, albeit on points difference over St. Marys. The precarious nature of our lead makes every game critical in the run in to the end of the league. First and foremost, we must win next Friday’s, 2nd March, fixture at home to Blackrock and we are calling on all members to show their support by turning up at Castle Avenue on the evening.
As we look at the remaining fixtures, we cannot look beyond the following game, against Young Munster in Limerick on 24th March. I am sure that all who look at that fixture will appreciate the tough journey we face and the fact that it will be a table topping game. We are renowned for our travelling support and we have regularly, in recent visits to Limerick, made away venues feel like a home from home and match, if not outnumber the home support. The nature of this fixture, and the particular venue, make it all the more challenging from that perspective, this time.
I am calling on all supporters to make every effort to travel to Limerick. With the new league format there will not be any playoff matches. This particular fixture affords a similar type opportunity however to get behind your team, in a match critical to determining the outcome of the All Ireland League.
For those already intent on travelling, please consider your friends within the Club supporter base and encourage them to make it a day out together. We need all the support we can get. All can contribute to what we hope will be a very successful run in to the end of the league by getting behind the team in Limerick.
I look forward to seeing you all in great numbers both in the Club on Friday night and in Young Munster on the 24th March.
Terry Browne
Chairman of Rugby
