Clontarf overcame a spirited but young Garryowen side in sunny Limerick to move into 2nd place in the UBL League with three games to play.
On a day more suited to beach ball it took Clontarf until almost half time to break down a home defence that dealt with the visitors kicking game with some aplomb. As the half wound towards the whistle Michael Noone provided a cameo of his ruck ball sneak and went straight through the middle for the opening score converted by David Joyce.
The second half saw Garryowen score first to tie the score and Clontarf adjust their tactics to favour the carry. It was not long before the home side wilted under the onslaught of the heavy divisions and a super try from Matt Darcy opened the floodgates with further scores to Jack Power, Cian O’Donoghue, and Ben Reilly.
