MATCH REPORT: Tarf v Trinity – Leinster League Cup

Clontarf began their Leinster League Cup campaign with a comprehensive 31-0 win over Trinity at College Park last Saturday.

Tarf’s dominance in the first half was rewarded after a good break from out half Killian Lett, the ball was popped to flanker Eoin Cremin who scored the try. The conversion was added to give Clontarf a 7-0 lead, they held until the interval.

An early penalty in the second half by Phil Howard extended the lead to 10-0 until two tries in the space of five minutes from Paddy Mallon and hooker Aaron Dundon put the game beyond Trinity’s reach. Howard again adding the extras on both occasions.

Sub Simon Crawford rounded things off six minutes from time with a fine try and Phil Howard maintained his 100% kicking display with an excellent conversion.

Tarf now play Old Belvedere on 11th September for the Jack Whelan Memorial Trophy.

The J1’s also began their campaign with a win against Trinity 27-19.
